About The Release

I wrote this album from a place of honesty and vulnerability, the amount of grief i've experienced in the last 12 months is indescribable, luckily for me i'm an artist and I get to take my pain and make it into something beautiful, that is if I'm willing to tell the truth. During my separation from my fiancé I lost my father in a tragic car accident, the following months were something I barely survived but my art and these songs kept me through it, my approach in the studio was trying to convert all of my angry, bitter, or lost feelings into something beautiful and I could only get there through admittance and love. My time in the UK was good for this I truly feel like their emotional song writing is the best and it helped me skip ahead to telling the truth. I knew for these words I wanted to imagine a new sonic landscape of nostalgic nintendo sounds a place that felt warm and endless, contrasted with powerful strings bringing the true weight of my emotional state into the music. SMYLE AGAIN is hopefully a testament to choosing in the moment of full despair to mine for the beautiful and the positive things in your life and to make the ending of any of your stories a happy one.
