About
Long-time collaborators Brookfield Duece and Drae Slapz bring their dynamic chemistry to life in their first full-length project, "Foreal Tape." Hailing from Oakland and Portland, respectively, the duo has been working together for over a decade, with Drae frequently DJing for Duece's performances across the Pacific Northwest. The project, born out of a post-pandemic burst of creativity, was crafted over two years alongside Duece's collective Grand Nationxl, Drae's collective Rare Vibe, and the production crew and alternative band The Whoadees. "Foreal Tape" is a celebration of "outside music," designed to uplift and energize, featuring a star-studded lineup of collaborators including P-Lo, Rexx Life Raj, Dreebo, Wolfe de MCHLS, and Sy Ari Da Kid. Additionally, it includes contributions from collective artists in Grand Nationxl and Rare Vibe: Mani Draper, Kevin Allen, Passwurdz, Covi., Scooter Rogers, Mic Capes, and Samuel The 1st. Every song on the 17-track deluxe version is produced by Drae Slapz, who, during the creation of this album, was heavily involved in the afrobeat and amapiano scene in the region. He took a break from that scene to dive back into rap, with additional production by Mani Draper of Grand Nationxl and Benet of The Whoadees. Unlike their previous solo ventures, this project embraces melody and fun, steering clear of dense lyrics in favor of an easy-going vibe. With a mixtape-like approach, Duece and Drae aim to create something unique for their collaboration, offering a fresh sound that resonates with fans looking to enjoy and vibe to good music.
